Dr. Kamkar has been a California licensed optometrist since 1986. Dr. Kamkar pursued undergraduate work in bioengineering at University of California, San Diego, and received his degree of Doctor of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton. Dr. Kamkar is a California optometrist licensed to the maximum level of the law, including diagnosing and treating glaucoma. He is also currently one of few optometrists with additional credentials as a Qualified Medical Evaluator (Q.M.E.) and is an experienced Agreed Medical Evaluator (A.M.E.) in the State of California.
Dr. Kamkar has two locations for his private optometric practice, the original location in Costa Mesa, Orange County, and a branch location in Glendale, Los Angeles County. In addition to optometry, Dr. Kamkar has been active in the community and belongs to several organizations, most noteworthy, Strategic Business Group (SBG – www.ocsbg.com) and Iranian Community Center (ICC - www.iraniancommunitycenter.org). He has been a part of NIPOC’s Annual Mehregan Celebration (www.nipoc.org/mehregan) providing free eye screenings. He organizes and conducts the popular backgammon tournaments at annual events such as Mehregan in Orange County, Sizdehbedar in Los Gatos, and SBG Annual Picnic in Laguna Niguel, California. Dr. Kamkar is also a member of the Flying Samaritans and spends several weekends per year traveling to Mexico and providing free eye care and eyeglasses for those in need.
